OPEN SPACE AND COMMUNITY

The scheme includes significantly more public open space than before, with the main square at the heart of the development now 42% larger than the consented scheme. At street level the scheme will open up the area, creating vibrant, publicly accessible open spaces for everyone. Shops and restaurants will contribute to a lively atmosphere and the design will cover the mainline railway, providing pedestrian access direct to the site from Norton Folgate.

Employment opportunities will be created by the development. As part of Hammerson’s ongoing commitment to regeneration, it will co-ordinate a centralised job and training programme so that local people interested in working during the construction phase of the scheme or who are interested in retraining, can apply through Hammerson’s dedicated programme.
